Ralph Waldo Emerson – Grand Passion – First horse-last horse

“Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of Solitaire. It is a grand passion.”

My new exercise regime includes the riding of a horse. Not just any horse.  There was a first horse, this is the last horse.  Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes hold such depth, I am going to use a quote each day starting today with a reflection.  Sometimes including something from the day, sometimes just some quibble from my mind.  Grand Passion is not just a passing fancy, or mild interest in an object or activity.  Grand Passion is the driving force that moves one from mediocre to grandiose in nature.  Passion motivates us, but the grand passion completely consumes every fiber of our being.  I will be including Ralph’s horse in my every day activities in an attempt to spend the last half-century of my life consumed with the things I hold most dear.  God, my family, children, grandchildren, friends, pets and first horse-last horse.
